A massage therapy appointment entails all time spent with your RMT including: administration, interview, assessment, treatment, and home care. Massage therapy is the application of hands-on techniques to body tissues with intent to therapeutically assess and treat. Your RMT will use manual therapy techniques to enhance the healing process of the irritated tissues. Techniques that may be used in combination include soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, strain-counter-strain, joint mobilizations, and mobilization with movement. Massage therapy can be helpful to assess dysfunction, increase joint range of motion, decrease pain, and improve healing.

**If it’s your first time seeing Anna at French Creek Physiotherapy, a new intake form is required to be filled. Please expect your first appointment with her to be treated as an initial session even if you may have seen another RMT at the clinic.**

Athletic Therapy

Anna trained at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Victoria and has been in practice since 2014. Her style is thoughtful and intuitive, often incorporating deeper work with myofascial and movement techniques as necessary. She has a modest approach that addresses a wide range of musculoskeletal concerns. Her goal is to connect with you at your current state of health and collaboratively work towards a favorable outcome.

In her other times, Anna hangs with her active family in the easygoing vibe of Parksville. She finds her creative expression in the grounding rhythms of partnered African dance and dares herself to surf our wild west coast waves.

I obtained a bachelor of kinesiology at UBC prior to completing my physiotherapy training on the sunny Gold Coast, Australia, at Bond University. I have a robust background in strength and conditioning as well as experience working with athletes at the university and professional levels. I chose to pursue physiotherapy as a career with the goal of promoting healthy and active lifestyles to the people in my community. My goals as a therapist are to give clients the guidance they need to optimize their movement and performance as well as to provide a deeper insight and understanding into the client’s specific issue.

I aim to empower individuals by promoting self-efficacy and building confidence in movement with all of my clients. I am passionate about helping my clients reach their goals through implementing evidence-based interventions and building physical and mental resilience.

Personally, I am passionate about mountain biking and hiking with my dog Matilda.

Registered Physiotherapist Certified Gunn IMS Practitioner Certified Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist

Using a combination of treatments including manual therapy, IMS, education, and exercise prescription, I focus on helping patients return to doing what is most important to them. I not only educate my patients on what they need to do to manage their own health, but work with them to identify barriers that prevent them from adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Since completing a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at Queen’s University in 2007, I have completed additional training in Chronic Pain Management, Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) through the Faculty of Medicine at UBC, and have a Level 3 Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy.

I am also certified to treat pelvic floor dysfunction including:

  • pelvic pain (vaginal/perineal/rectal pain, dyspareunia, vestibulodynia, pudendal neuralgia, coccydynia)

  • incontinence (urinary and fecal, stress and urge, overactive bladder)

  • pelvic organ prolapse

I also assess and treat women in the pre- and post-natal period to address pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and diastasis rectus abdominus.

When I’m not at work, I spend my time wrangling my two young children, running or biking in the forest, and trying to grow things in my garden.
