Dylan is a Certified Athletic Therapist and owner of Upstream Athletics. Growing up in Nanoose Bay, Dylan knows how important it is to be able to get outside and enjoy all that the community has to offer.
Playing high performance sport in his younger years, his pursuit of playing professionally took him to the UK and Europe training with youth soccer academies. These experiences along with his wide range of clinical and field work inform his treatment style and philosophy. Dylan brings a diverse skillset based on exercise inputs and manual therapy to get his clients pain-free and beyond their previous level of functioning.
Graduating from Camosun College in 2011, Dylan has spent time treating athletes (both recreational, professional, and industrial) in sport, private clinical practice as well as the industrial setting. This wide array of experience both clinically and in the field allow Dylan to effectively relate to any client’s goals. Dylan believes that everyone has a unique set of needs that require the application of the correct input, with the correct intensity, at the correct time to promote sustainable and robust healing.

I obtained a bachelor of kinesiology at UBC prior to completing my physiotherapy training on the sunny Gold Coast, Australia, at Bond University. I have a robust background in strength and conditioning as well as experience working with athletes at the university and professional levels.
I chose to pursue physiotherapy as a career with the goal of promoting healthy and active lifestyles to the people in my community. My goals as a therapist are to give clients the guidance they need to optimize their movement and performance as well as to provide a deeper insight and understanding into the client’s specific issue.
I aim to empower individuals by promoting self-efficacy and building confidence in movement with all of my clients. I am passionate about helping my clients reach their goals through implementing evidence-based interventions and building physical and mental resilience.
Personally, I am passionate about mountain biking and hiking with my dog Matilda.

Certified Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
Using a combination of treatments including manual therapy, IMS, education, and exercise prescription, I focus on helping patients return to doing what is most important to them. I not only educate my patients on what they need to do to manage their own health, but work with them to identify barriers that prevent them from adopting a healthier lifestyle.
Since completing a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at Queen’s University in 2007, I have completed additional training in Chronic Pain Management, Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) through the Faculty of Medicine at UBC, and have a Level 3 Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy.
I am also certified to treat pelvic floor dysfunction including:
-
pelvic pain (vaginal/perineal/rectal pain, dyspareunia, vestibulodynia, pudendal neuralgia, coccydynia)
-
incontinence (urinary and fecal, stress and urge, overactive bladder)
-
pelvic organ prolapse
I also assess and treat women in the pre- and post-natal period to address pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and diastasis rectus abdominus.
When I’m not at work, I spend my time wrangling my two young children, running or biking in the forest, and trying to grow things in my garden.
